Clint Eastwood and The Steaks We've Known
Sunday Jan 12, 2014
Sunday Jan 12, 2014
Clint Eastwood. Is there anything else that needs to be said? What other actor has taken a role in a small, throwaway foreign film where he barely speaks and turned it into a career this big? From gruff, stoic western nomad to gruff, stoic police detective, to gruff, stoic boxing coach he has truly run the gamut of gruff, stoic leading men.
This week we take a look at the career of one of the most iconic stars in the history of film and discuss steak, because it seems fitting.

Wordy title, I know, but it gets the point across.
As long as there have been famous people there have been famous people who want nothing more than to be more famous. For some reason, acting seems to be the go to way of achieving that end.
This week we take a look at people who took the long way around to becoming actors.

Ben Affleck and Matt Damon: The Lives and Times
Sunday Dec 29, 2013
Sunday Dec 29, 2013
It's kind of funny how a partnership between two people can go on to define those people long after the partnership ends. Look at Matt Damon and Ben Affleck. Friends who wrote a movie together which won them an Oscar. The have appeared only around a half dozen movies together, but they are still viewed as parts on a whole on some level.
This week we look at the parallel careers of Damon and Affleck and see if we can figure out how they ended up in such similar, but different, places in the film world.

We kind of talk about Peter O'Toole This Week
Sunday Dec 22, 2013
Sunday Dec 22, 2013
Sometimes a person knocks it out of the park their first time at the plate. Hell, some people do it on their first swing.
In 1962 a film was released that redefined EPIC. Almost more impressive than the size and scope of this film was the performance of its lead. Why was this so impressive? Because it was not only a character that appeared in almost every frame of the four hour behemoth, but it was also this actors FIRST FILM ROLE.
The film was Lawrence of Arabia, and the star was Peter O'Toole.
Since then, O'Toole has racked up one of the most impressive resumes of any actor in the history of film. He has been a ubiquitous part of the cinematic landscape for over 50 years, and this past week he slipped free this mortal coil, and the world is a less cool place because of it.
This week we discuss the life and films of Peter as well as a bunch of other stuff.
Actually... if we are being honest, we talked about a bunch of random stuff and then a little bit about O'Toole. I think he would have liked it.

In the not too distant future...
For people of a certain age those words are the foundation of much of their sense of humor.
Comedy Central, at the time known as The Comedy Chanel, took a chance, and a rather big one. They decided that a public access show from Minnesota would be perfect for national broadcast. Not just any show, mind you, but a two hour long weekly show that revolves around people watching a different bad movie every week. But for those of us who looked beyond that surface...we discovered the most amazing comedy of our lives.
A guy named Joel had an idea. Watch bad movies and riff on them... and 20 years, almost 100 episodes, different casts, and at least 3 different spin offs... we take a look at the fathers of movie riffing, the geniuses who gave us, Cambot, Gypsy, Tom Servo, and Crow... the men and women of Mystery Science Theater 3000!!
