Distraction Therapy 2

Sunday Jun 15, 2014
The past two weeks were very, very hectic for both of us. So, we decided to try out recording without a topic. We just talked. In honesty, this is more of a test episode for a completely different podcast we are still planning on launching. Hopefully you will enjoy hearing a stream of consciousness conversation.
Remember, you can be a part of the show any time you wild like. How's that? All you have to do is call or e-mail us. If you live in the US, or any place that makes calling the US easy, just dial 512-666-RANT and leave us a voicemail. We will read the Google Voice transcript and play your message. It's both funny AND informative.
If you live outside the US you can call us on Skype at The_Film_Thugs. You can leave a message, or someone might actually answer.
E-mail us at thefilmthugs@gmail.com and we will read/play whatever you send us, or you can e-mail thugquestions@gmail.com to be part of an upcoming "Ask the Film Thugs" show, where we answer questions on any subject without having heard them first.
Also, we are on twitter @thefilmthugs and on Facebook and Vine.
You can also click on one of our sponsor links below and THEY will pay us. That's right. You won't have to pay a PENNY extra, and Amazon/Onnit/Teefury will give us a little taste.
Thanks for listening, and until next week...

You have more questions, we have more answers.

It's back. That's right the episode that all of you... well, most of you... well, some of you... ok, maybe one or two of you, have been waiting for is back. The return of Ask The Film Thugs.
The idea is simple. People send in questions to thugquestions@gmail.com, an e-mail address that neither one of us has access to, where Hunter from http://www.midnightmoviecowboys.com compiles and records them. Then, we answer them without any time to prepare. Everything happens completely off the cuff. It's a good time.
This week we have moved into our new, permanent studio, so... that's pretty cool.
Check it out and get our thoughts on various topics.

Gangster movies that don't feature the Italian Mafia
Sunday May 18, 2014
Sunday May 18, 2014
The gangster movie is an institution. There is something kind of sexy about the very idea of an organized crime ring. People love that shit.
But ever since The Godfather, the Italians have had a pretty tight grip on the reigns of the gangster film.
This week we decided to delve a little deeper into this world of organized crime by completely ignoring the Italian side, and looking at the other people who have had such organizations.
Basically, what happened was, Bob Hoskins died and we wanted to talk about one of his films...
This gave us all the excuse we needed.

Sequels in the works
Sunday Apr 27, 2014
Sunday Apr 27, 2014
Hollywood seems to be out of ideas. This has been said so often that it no longer has any meaning.
Every year it seems as if a greater percentage of studio movies are either sequels or adaptations. Recently, sequels have taken the lead.
But whose fault is that? I mean, if a business has been conditioned to expect $1,000,000,000 returns on recycled ideas, uninspired sequels, and single films split into multiple films, is the business really to blame for producing more recycled ideas, uninspired sequels, and single films split into multiple films?
This week we take a look a the, frankly, ASTONISHING number of sequels that studios have at various stages of production.
