Michael Keaton is another one of those actors that define a huge chunk of our childhoods. For years everything he was one of the funniest men on the planet. But he was more than funny. The man can pretty much do it all. He's funny, can kill at drama, and for God's sake... he's Batman. If that wasn't enough, his amazing turn in Birdman has places him as the odds on favorite for an Oscar.
So, this week, we kind of talk about him.
Remember, you can be a part of the show any time you wild like. How's that? All you have to do is call or e-mail us. If you live in the US, or any place that makes calling the US easy, just dial 512-666-RANT and leave us a voicemail. We will read the Google Voice transcript and play your message. It's both funny AND informative.
If you live outside the US you can call us on Skype at The_Film_Thugs. You can leave a message, or someone might actually answer.
E-mail us at thefilmthugs@gmail.com and we will read/play whatever you send us, or you can e-mail thugquestions@gmail.com to be part of an upcoming "Ask the Film Thugs" show, where we answer questions on any subject without having heard them first.
Also, we are on twitter @thefilmthugs and on Facebook and Vine.
You can also click on one of our sponsor links below and THEY will pay us. That's right. You won't have to pay a PENNY extra, and Amazon/Onnit/Teefury will give us a little taste.
Thanks for listening, and until next week...

John, Apocalypse Now, Red Dawn, Conan the Barbarian, ass Milius!

Hollywood likes to present itself as a utopia of creative freedom, diversity, and acceptance.
Nobody has ever, or possibly will ever, test this... absolute nonsense, quite like John Milius.
Not only did he write some of the greatest screenplays ever, he has been routinely renounced as "fascist" because he doesn't fit into the nice little box that other creative types do. His biggest regret is never having been to war, and once accepted payment in the form of antique weapons.
In short, we love John Milius and we're asking you to love him too.

In case you missed it, we are on the verge of Christmas. As this is our... what... 5th Christmas, I want to say it's our 5th, so yeah... after 5 years we decided it was time to talk about the big guy. Movies about Santa. Don't really need to tell you more than that, do we?

Terribly miscast roles.

Monday Dec 08, 2014
This week we revisit a show from... well... let's just say a long damned time ago. A very long damned time ago.
Making a movie is almost impossible. Making a good movie is basically a happy accident. One of the biggest obstacles is casting. How does a filmmaker strike a balance between an actor who is good for the role and one who is bankable?
Sometimes, they don't and just throw someone popular in and hope for the best.
Let's talk about that!
