Sometimes a good idea goes horribly wrong. Back when the first two Halloween movies hit someone came up with an absolutely brilliant idea. How about create an anthology horror series that takes place during Halloween. Every year someone would make a stand alone horror film that would be released as part of the series. A new cast, new characters, new setting... It's brilliant.
Then this thing happened and ruined it all.
Join us as Jim watches "Halloween 3: Season of the Witch" for the first time with one of our progressive commentaries.
What is a progressive commentary? Well, rather than having to watch the movie with us and go through the incredibly difficult task of synchronization, we watch a movie 15 minutes at a time, then stop and talk about it. It's just like watching a movie with us, only without all the difficulty.
Remember, you can be a part of the show any time you wild like. How's that? All you have to do is call or e-mail us. If you live in the US, or any place that makes calling the US easy, just dial 512-666-RANT and leave us a voicemail. We will read the Google Voice transcript and play your message. It's both funny AND informative.
If you live outside the US you can call us on Skype at The_Film_Thugs. You can leave a message, or someone might actually answer.
E-mail us at thefilmthugs@gmail.com and we will read/play whatever you send us, or you can e-mail thugquestions@gmail.com to be part of an upcoming "Ask the Film Thugs" show, where we answer questions on any subject without having heard them first.
Also, we are on twitter @thefilmthugs and on Facebook and Vine.
You can also click on one of our sponsor links below and THEY will pay us. That's right. You won't have to pay a PENNY extra, and Amazon/Onnit/Teefury will give us a little taste.
Thanks for listening, and until next week...

From the theater to your living room... for some reason.

A ways back we did an episode about TV shows being made into movies. Honestly, I have no idea how long ago it was. After 200 episodes, it gets hard to remember when a specific one occurred.
Regardless, we felt that enough time had passed to make doing a kind of follow up seem appropriate. That and the spate of TV shows based on movies making their way down the pipeline didn't hurt either.
So, this week we take a look at the shows that began their lives in theaters. Some are great, some are awful, some just make no damned sense. Enjoy.

Sometimes the "bad guy" isn't wrong.

There are basic tenants of narrative that we just accept. There is a good guy. There is a bad guy. The good guy has to grow and become good enough to triumph over the bad guy. Simple, right?
Well....
You see, this basic coding is so deeply ingrained in us that we just accept it, even if it happens to be wrong.
Truth of the matter, the bad guy/bad guy thing is more connected to what we are told than what is actually happening in the story.
This week we take a look at some bad guys who... well, who weren't bad guys.
