Film Thugs- The college years.
Sunday Jun 30, 2013
Sunday Jun 30, 2013
Sense memory is a wonderful thing. For those unfamiliar with the concept, sense memory is when a sensory reaction (a sight, a sound, a smell, a certain texture) reminds you of a certain time and place. Like how certain movies can send us back to certain times in our lives just by the opening music.
This week we decided to look at the movies that take us back to our college days. We go, year by year, through our college experience and discuss the movies that most represent that time in our lives.
As usual the Thug hotlines are both still open and awaiting your phone calls, if you live in the US call 512-666-RANT and leave a message about your most memorably awful movie theater experience. If you don't live in the US and want to avoid costly international charges, just Skype us at The_Film_Thugs. You can also e-mail us at thefilmthugs@gmail.com, or thugquestions@gmail.com to be a part of the next run at this show. We are also on Twitter @TheFilmThugs, on Vine @TheFilmThugs, and on Facebook. Reign of Fire- Progressive Commentary

Sunday Jun 23, 2013
There are some performances that transcend career defining and succeed in doing something so much more than that. They end up defining awesome.
Reign of Fire is a movie that personifies, "Eh, it was OK." As a film it's a solid C or maybe a C+. But then there is Matthew Mcconaughey. It is literally impossible to say how awesome he is in this movie because we have not yet developed a system of measurement that could chart Matthew Mcconaughey in this film.
This is our progressive commentary for "Reign of Fire." We watch 15 minutes, then talk, then the next 15, then talk, and so on.
Join us for our up to the minute commenting on this overlooked masterpiece.

The Man of Steel and Beyond

Sunday Jun 16, 2013
There are very few instances where something could be called the definitive example of a genre. However, in the superhero world, it's fairly evident. Not is Superman the most powerful superhero, he's the reason they are called superheroes. This week we celebrate the arrival of The Man of Steel by talking all things Superman. From the early, doughy TV actors to today, we discuss Clarkson's absolute favorite. Road Trippin'
Sunday Jun 09, 2013
Sunday Jun 09, 2013
Car chases and road races are pretty rad, but let's be honest... not many of us have ever been involved in one. Yeah, we've all imagined how bad ass it would be to fire up a NOS system and see the world go blazing by in a blur of Vin Diesel-esque glory... but most of us never have, and we never will. But a road trip... hell, we've all done a road trip. So this week, we decided to put the shoe on the other foot and take a look at something we have all been a part of. So check out our tribute to the movie road trip. The art of the car chase.
Sunday Jun 02, 2013

Cars are awesome. Even the shittiest car is better than no car at all. It's true. Just like with anything bad ass, they HAD to become part of the movies. From silent to IMAX, the car chase is as much a part of cinema as the camera. So, join us as two guys who know absolutely nothing about cars talk about car chases, and blenders, and ketchup... hell, you know the drill.
